Film by Russian director about explosions of apartment houses to be presented at Sundance Film Festival

Disbelief, a documentary directed by Andrey Nekrasov of Russia, will be presented at the international Sundance Film Festival, Utah, the U.S. This festival is one of the main independent film forums in the world. Disbelief is devoted to the explosions of apartment houses in Moscow in the autumn of 1999. The premiere of the film is to take place on January 16, reads a press release by the Dreamscanner production company.

The events that happened four years ago are shown through the eyes of the sisters Tatyana and Elena Morozovs, whose mother died in the explosion of the apartment house on Gurianov Street. Now they live in the United States. Having faced the vivid unwillingness of the Russian authorities to conduct a complete and conscientious investigation of the tragedy, the sisters try on their own to find truth about the bloody terrorist acts, which played a sinister part in the launching of the second Chechen war and had a deep effect on Russia's political history.

Archival film and video materials and private videotape recordings are used in the picture.
