Parliament of Azerbaijan ratifies European Social Charter

Milli Majlis, the Azerbaijan parliament, passed a law on the ratification of the European Social Charter on Tuesday.

The republic ratified 18 articles of the Charter, which concern the rights to fair working conditions, to safe and healthy working conditions, to vocational training, to social security, and to social and medical assistance.

At the same time, Azerbaijan has not yet ratified the articles that concern the right of migrant workers and their families to protection and assistance, the right of elderly persons to social protection, and the right to housing.

Azerbaijan's ratification of the European Social Charter is a commitment undertaken by the country to the Council of Europe.
