An action of support of Byelorussian human rights activist Ales Belyatsky passed off in Yerevan
Human rights activists in the capital of Armenia organized an action of protest in front of the Embassy of Belarus demanding release of human rights activist Ales Belyatsky.
Actions of protest in Belyatsky's defense passed off on September, 5, in tens other countries. The picket in Yerevan was organized by members of Helsinki Association. Speaking at the action Chairman of the Association Mikhael Danielyan called Belyatsky's arrest a "political game".
The doors and windows of Byelorussian embassy were not opened until the very end. The human rights activists passed a message with the demand of Belyatsky's release to the embassy, IA "Tert" reports.
We will remind that Ales Belyatsky, Chairman of "Vesna" ("Spring") human rights center closed down by Byelorussian authorities, was detained on August, 4, in Minsk by the personnel of State Security Committee and Department of Financial Investigation of Committee of State Control. A charge according to clause of the Criminal code "Tax evasion on an especially large scale" was brought against him. The human rights activist may be sentenced to up to seven years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.
Earlier, the "Caucasian Knot" reported that activists of civil community of Azerbaijan condemned the arrest of the human rights activist Ales Belyatsky who is famous in Byelorussia.
