Dagestan: rally in demand of release of detainees postponed till next week
The pre-planned today's rally with a demand the release three residents of the Kizlyar District suspected of helping militants will not take place. The organizers of the protest action had a meeting with the top officials of the Dagestani Prosecutor's Office, after which it was decided to postpone the rally until the next week. The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed about it by Magomed Gadjiev, a resident of Makhachkala.
Let us remind you that the first action, which was about 200 persons strong, was held on August 26 near the building of the Prosecutor's Office.
"We managed to meet the top officials of the Office, where they told us that the incident had been investigated superficially; therefore, the case was sent to reconsideration," Mr Gadjiev said today.
According to his story, the next protest action may take place on the following week. "I'm afraid that corporate interests are already in play; and all the services will try to shelter the policemen of the Kizlyar ROVD (District Interior Division) who had planted firearms and drugs on the defendants. These illegal provocations are widespread in Dagestan; however, I don't remember a case, when some policeman was punished. I'm afraid, power bosses don't understand that some of young people main join - because of despair and in search of justice - the armed underground," Magomed Gadjiev has noted.
In their turn, the press service of the Prosecutor's Office of Dagestan told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that all the steps are made to settle the situation in accordance with the law.
