International Prize "Witnesses of Peace" to be given to Shakman Akbulatov

This year the Prize "Witnesses of Peace", established by the Italian city of Ovada, will be awarded to human rights activist from Chechnya Shakman Akbulatov.

Mr Akbulatov is an employee of the branch of the Human Rights Centre "Memorial" in the Chechen Republic; however, he lives in France as a political refugee, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

The prestigious award "Witnesses of Peace" is awarded under the patronage of the President of the Italian Republic with participation of the city of Ovada.

The Prize will be awarded to the rights defender on October 4; on that very day the HRC "Memorial" will screen in Italy the documentary "Who Killed Natalia Estemirova".
