Attempt at Alexander Ankvab, Vice-president of Abkhazia, was committed

Alexander Ankvab, Vice-president of Abkhazia, got wounded as a result of an attempt at him tonight.

A stranger fired a shot at the house where Ankvab lives, in the settlement of Likhni, Gudauta district. Ankvab was wounded in his leg and arm. No other members of the family were injured. The event was reported by the republican Ministry of Interior Affairs. The incident happened at about 3:00 Moscow time.

Vice-president got the necessary medical aid at home and refused being taken to hospital. A task force headed by Ramin Gablaya, First Deputy Minister of the Abkhazian Ministry of Interior Affairs, went to the scene of the accident.

It should be reminded this has been the third attempt at Ankvab. The two previous ones were committed when he was Prime Minister of Abkhazia. They have not been detected up to now.
