Russian-Georgian border check point "Kazbegi-Verkhni Lars" reopened

Today in the morning, the border check point "Kazbegi-Verkhni Lars" started its operation. Its Kazbegi section works under the legislation of Georgia, while the Verkhni Lars one - according to the Russian legislation.

As noted today at a press conference by Nino Kalandadze, deputy minister of foreign affairs of Georgia, the opening of the check point "Dariali (Kazbegi)-Verkhni Lars" in the Georgian-Russian border has no danger to the population of Georgia and for the country as a whole.

"Theoretical threat may always originate from any border check point; however, in this particular situation we state, with our full responsibility, that safety of all the citizens and of Georgia as a whole is surely guaranteed," said Ms Kalandadze.
According to the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, "despite the simplified visa regime from Georgia, the country pursues very strict policy concerning those who are suspicious and want to cross the Georgian border," the IA "News-Georgia" reports.

According to current rules, citizens of Russia and Georgia should receive their visas in the respective sections of Swiss embassies in Tbilisi and Moscow, which represent the interests of these countries, as the RBC reports.
