Dagestan resident sentenced to 25 years for killing two militiamen

The Supreme Court of Dagestan has sentenced Ahmed Abzhavatov, a resident of Makhachkala, to the maximal punishment - 25 years of imprisonment in a maximum security colony - for being a member of IAFs (illegal armed formations) and murdering two militiamen.

The investigation believes that in summer of 2008 Abzhavatov joined the militants, who were at war against power agents, and received 96,000 roubles, which he spent to buy arms, ammunition and regimentals for transfer to militants.

The inspectors concluded that in April 2009 in Makhachkala Abzhavatov shot dead two militiamen; then made several control shots at employees of law enforcement bodies and disappeared from the crime place, as the "Gazeta.Ru" reports.

It is reported also that a certain Ahmed, with whom the convict got acquainted in a mosque and who stuck to extremist religious views, took part in murdering of militiamen. He was not found till now, as the "Vesti" reports.
