Shakhnazaryan: Moscow wants to make parallel format in Karabakh process

Russia tries to change the format of the Minsk OSCE Group and is interested to set up a parallel intermediary format in the Karabakh process. This is the opinion of David Shakhnazaryan, a member of the oppositional Armenian National Congress and former chairman of the local KGB.

Mr Shakhnazaryan has noted that Moscow's behaviour assumes its intention if not to start a parallel settlement process, like it was in early 1990s, then to reserve some special role in the settlement. In the opinion of the politician, Iran and Kazakhstan help Russia in this endeavour.

"The Karabakh process is practically independent from the parties in conflict, which, as a matter of fact, are not interested in the settlement. The decisions on the negotiation process will be made by Moscow and Washington," David Shakhnazaryan is sure.
