Armenia has 90,000 poor people more
Along with the economic recession, Armenia sees a significant growth of poverty. The count of poor population in the country has increased by 90,000 persons, or by 3 percent as compared with last year. This was reported to journalists by Aristomene Varudakis, representative of the World Bank in Armenia.
At the same time, according to his story, the well-developed network of social care in Armenia has prevented a still higher growth of poverty. "Otherwise, it would have doubled," the World Bank official believes.
The 2010 Armenia's budget does not assume any decrease of pensions and allowances. It allocates 240 billion drams to social sphere (1 US dollar = 385 Armenian drams, - comment of the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent). At the same time, the budget assumes decreased state financing of education, sciences, transports and public health.
