Armenians-migrants, even jobless in Russia, would not come home

Gagik Eganyan, head of the Migration Agency of the Ministry of Territorial Management, told journalists that the forecasts about forced comeback from Russia of 150,000 Armenians, who lost their jobs there, did not come true. According to his story, Armenians in Russia agree to do less paid work but not to return to their homeland.

According to Mr Eganyan, in spite of failed forecasts, the crisis has essentially reduced the number of new labour migrants leaving for Russia.

He has also noted that the majority of Armenians worked in Russia construction sector, which is as a matter of fact suspended because of crisis.

According to studies conducted by the OSCE, every year in spring some 60-80 thousand Armenians used to go to Russia for seasonal works. Experts of this organization think that this year the number will be much smaller.
