Azerbaijani CEC stops accepting election applications

November 13 was the deadline for submitting documents to the Central Electoral Committee (CEC) for receiving registration as candidates at municipal elections to be held in Azerbaijan on December 23. Documents have been submitted by more than 35,000 persons; and 28,515 candidates have already been registered.

Out of the registered candidates, 9253 persons are independent (nonpartisan), the others represent 30 political parties. The IA "APA" adds that the constituency electoral commissions have registered candidates from 19 parties.

This year in Azerbaijan, in total 15,682 members should be elected in 1718 municipalities, as reported by the "Day.аz".
