In Georgia, court adjudges Eka Beseliya's relatives

The Kobuleti City Court has set free on bail Rati Milorava, son of Eka Beseliya, secretary general of the oppositional party "Movement for United Georgia", while her brother Sergo Beseliya will have to spend two months in pre-trial custody.

As reported by Lili Gelashvili, advocate of the detainees, the release on bail was also awarded to the young man, arrested together with Beseliya's relatives, who is also a minor, while the fourth detainee will also spend two months in pre-trial custody.

The prosecutor's office demanded the bail of 3000 laris, and before it is paid, the minors will remain behind bars.

The advocate asserts that the trial was accompanied by a number of violations. All the petitions of the defence were ignored, and the prosecution could not answer any question.

The "Georgia Online" reports that the defence advocates are going to appeal against the decision of the Kobuleti Court at the appeal instance.

In its turn, the oppositional Conservative Party of Georgia has expressed its protest against arrests of Beseliya's family members and assessed these actions of the authorities as one of the most unscrupulous manifestations of political repressions.

The opposition believes that the charges, presented to Eka Beseliya's son and brother, assume no particular criminal offences; and the case has no victim. The selected measure of freedom restriction - arrest - was especially inadequate, the "Georgia Today" reports.
