Krasnodar Territorial Court re-rejects Nemtsov's claim on Sochi election

Today, the Krasnodar Territorial Court has rejected the cassation complaint of the oppositional politician Boris Nemtsov against the refusal of the subordinate court - the Tsentralny District Court of the city of Sochi - to cancel the outcomes of the election of the Mayor of Sochi.

The "Caucasian Knot" has already reported that the politician asserted that during the election campaign the Laws "On Elections" and "On Mass Media", and the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation were breached. Also, Mr Nemtsov had indicated mass early voting and voting at home, absence of access to mass media, and slander in television reports.

Today, the court has listened to the viewpoints of both representatives. The today's session of the Krasnodar Territorial Court has lasted for a couple of minutes. Then, the judges retired to the consultation room, where they spent about a minute, and then, "despite the arguments presented by Mr Nemtsov's party", upheld the decision of the Tsentralny District Court of Sochi.

Despite this new refusal, the politician is still ready to appeal against all of them. Alexander Glushenkov, Boris Nemtsov's advocate, said that the following step will be a supervisory complaint to the Presidium of the Territorial Court, and then - to the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation and the European Court on Human Rights.
