In Chechnya, suspected militant commits suicide at detention

According to a source in law enforcement bodies of the republic, on July 5, a suspected member of the armed underground committed suicide not to get arrested.

"In a large forest near Ulus-Kert village of the Shatoy District, employees of the Chechnya's Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) and militaries of a special internal troops unit 'Yug' (South) of Russia's MIA held a joint special operation and confronted a group of militants. In the course of a skirmish, one of the bandits was wounded, and others retreated and hid in the woods," the source said to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

At an attempt to detain the wounded militant, he preferred to commit suicide by blowing up a grenade. None of special agents suffered. The perished bandit is not identified yet.
