Kalmykia halves its government
In the course of forming Kalmykia's news united government, President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov has cut its staff approximately by half, as reported by Buyancha Galzanov, press secretary of the nation's leader.
"During partial merge of machineries of the government and presidential administration, which were in charge of actually same functions, the staff of the new structure was reduced by about 50 percent," said Mr Galzanov.
The "Gazeta.Ru" reports that the reorganization of Kalmykia's government is aimed at optimisation of the Republic's power structure and reduction of budget expenses given the global financial crisis.
The press secretary has noted that as of today the chairman of the government and heads practically all ministries are already approved. However, the structural changes will go on till August 1.
