Whereabouts of Maskhud Abdullaev deported from Egypt is still unknown

Neither human rights activists nor relatives are still unaware of the location of student Maskhud Abdullaev, son of Supyan Abdullaev, leader of Chechen armed underground movement, who was deported from Egypt to Russia. The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed about it by Tatiana Kasatkina, executive director of the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial".

"We've called Maskhud's mother, today - his aunt. According to them, the boy had not revealed himself, which is very strange, as he was very respectful," said Tatiana Kasatkina.

Alexander Cherkasov, a member of the Board of the HRC "Memorial", believes that in the case with Maskhudom Abdullaev "we have a human disappearance after he found himself in the hands of the state, and not somewhere in Northern Caucasus but in Moscow."

"In Dagestan, they say about the missing people - 'they were lost'. As a rule, power agents arrange kidnappings in such manner, that it's difficult to state that someone was really kidnapped. But here, the person disappeared in a special control zone, and the last persons who saw him were Russian officials - from the Frontier Service and FSB. These agencies should respond for his life and health," said Mr Cherkasov.
