Georgian observers are to take part in Chechen presidential election monitoring

Georgian observers will take part in the monitoring of the Chechen presidential election appointed for October 5. As it was reported at the State Chancellery of Georgia, the idea of Georgian observers' participation in the monitoring of the Chechen election belonged to Russian President Vladimir Putin. He appeared with this proposal while meeting with Eduard Shevarnadze at the Yalta summit of the heads of CIS member states (September 18-19). The Georgian president accepted the offer, however, the number of Georgian observers to be sent to Chechnya is yet unknown.
