Georgia restores railway traffic to Zugdidi
The railway traffic in direction of Zugdidi interrupted today at night by a series of explosions is restored. During the whole night repair and sapper works went on at Zugdidi railway station.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that two explosions took place today at night at the railway station in Zugdidi, Western Georgia. It was reported that one person was wounded. The third explosion took place a couple of hours later in the outskirt of the city.
In his turn, Irakliy Eguzbaya, head of the Railways Department of Georgia, said that a thorough check of the station and adjacent territories was made; nothing suspicious was detected, the IA "News-Georgia" reports.
According to Georgia's MIA, the first explosion took place five minutes before midnight in the territory of the railway station in a car of a freight train. Electrician of the train Shalva Okromchedlishvili, 58, was wounded.
Half an hour later, at 00:25 a.m. on June 11, another explosion happened in the territory of the station - a bomb was planted into a garbage bin. The third explosion took place at 02:50 a.m. in the territory of the paper combine - a MAZ truck blew up in front of the local police station.
According to the "Georgia Online" Georgian News Agency, a local resident was detained in the context of Zugdidi explosions: after one of them, two men came up to him and asked to show the way in direction of Abkhazia. So far, the Georgia's MIA gave no comment on this information.
We remind you that on Tuesday, June 2, a section of the central railway Khobi-Zugdidi was blown up. Nobody suffered. Later, the MIA of Georgia warned that diversions could repeat.
