Car with militiamen blown up and shelled in Chechnya

A "Zhiguli" car with two Chechen militiamen and a local resident inside was first blown up and then shelled from automatic firearms. This was stated by a source in law enforcement bodies of Chechnya.

"A 'Zhiguli' model car that was blown up today in the morning in the highway running from the village of Belgatoy, Shali District, to Vedeno regional centre, later was shelled from small arms. In the place of the incident, operative agents found, apart from components of a SME (self-made explosive), plenty of shells from automatic firearms," said an officer of Republic's MIA.

"Two patrol-sentry militiamen and a civilian were in the car. All of them died in situ," said the source. "The gangsters who committed the crime are not known yet, but the work to this end is underway."
