"Reporters without Borders" help satirist Mirza Sakit

The international organization "Reporters without Borders" (RwB) engaged in defending the freedom of press has allocated material help to satirist Mirza Sakit (Sakit Zakhidov), employee of the newspaper "Azadlyg" (Freedom), who was released from custody on April 9.

The statement of the RwB that has arrived to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent says that money is allocated in view of Sakit's serious health problems after his 3 years in prison and hard financial situation in his family. For ethical reasons, the sum is not disclosed.

Let us note here that Sakit has four children, including minors.

"I'm very grateful to 'Reporters without Borders'. Apart from its repeated appeals in my defence when I was in prison, which was a huge political and moral support by itself, for the third time it renders material aid to me. It was a serious help to my family, which remained without the breadwinner," Mr Sakit said to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
