Rebels to serve 15 years for taking part in attack on Budyonnovsk

The Stavropol Regional Court has sentenced three members of Shamil Basayev's group to serve from 13.5 to 15 years in prison for participation in the 1995 rebel attack on Budyonnovsk, the court's press service reported on 28 May.

Adam Visaitov, a native of Chechnya, is sentenced to 13.5 years' imprisonment. The other two rebels, Yevgeny Zhdanov and Aleksandr Akimenko, are sentence to serve 15 years in prison.

The 14 June 1995 attack of Basayev's group on Budyonnovsk left 129 people killed and over 400 wounded.
