Project of Stavropol Regional Library for the Blind marked in Moscow

The contest for libraries in memory of Doctor Gaaz has been summed up in Moscow. It was held by the Tolerance Institute of the All-Russian State Library of Foreign Literature, the Russian Ministry of Culture and the Open Society Institute (Soros Foundation).

The contest was named after Doctor Fyodor P. Gaaz (1780-1853), whose activity was aimed at caring for poor and homeless patients. So the goal of the contest is obvious: to uncover procedures tested by libraries for the adaptation of socially vulnerable groups of population to the country's public life. 20 out of 80 libraries of all types reached the final. The Andropov Central Library for the Blind (the village of Kursavka in Stavropol Territory) and the Regional Library for the Blind were among the finalists. Experts of the contest especially marked the importance and topicality of the project "Series of Innovation Projects "Children of Special Concern" by the Stavropol Regional Library for the Blind.
