Krasnodar schools make lists of Caucasian nationals
In Krasnodar, district departments on education have ordered from city schools to compile lists of pupils-natives from the Caucasus with indication of their home addresses.
The corresponding prescription was attached to electronic letters dispatched to school managers. The request was justified by the need to combat extremism.
"We've now more frequent episodes of extremism among youth against Caucasian nationals," Zoya Gontar, head of the department of education of the Prikubanskiy District of Krasnodar. "At the administrative sitting with the head of the district, the head of militia of public safety has reported about these cases. These lists with home addresses were requested with the aim to ensure safety of Caucasian children."
Educators have no idea how these lists with personal data will be used. The "Komsomolskaya Pravda" writes that the GUVD (Territorial Interior Department) of the Krasnodar Territory has not made any comments so far on its involvement to making the lists.
It is known that the lists are formed, first of all, based on "external attributes" of children. The "Sova" Information and Analytical Centre remarks that the potential benefit of such initiative to prevent extremism is close to zero, while danger that the lists can be abused is high.
