Investigatory Committee: death of oppositionist Evloev in Ingushetia was occasional

The Chief Administration of the Investigatory Committee of the Russian Public Prosecutor's Office for the Southern Federal District has come to conclusion that the reason of the death of Magomed Evloev, owner of the oppositional website "Ingushetia.Ru" (now "Ingushetia.Org") was an unintentional shot from a pistol made by one of the militiamen who escorted Evloev.

The inspectors have announced the completion of the investigation of this criminal case.

"Mr Evloev had received his fatal wound from an unintentional pistol shot of one of the escorts," a representative of the investigation has specified, having noted that the militiaman in question can be conditionally punished. The name of this militiaman was not disclosed, allegedly because that law enforcement bodies of Ingushetia are seriously afraid that he can be executed out of revenge.

In his turn, the advocate for the Evloev family insists that the oppositionist was shot dead intentionally and promises to strive for consideration of this case at the European Court for Human Rights. In his opinion, the inspectors had been ordered to fabricate the materials in such manner as to conceal the customers of the murder.

According to "Ingushetia.Org", the defender is revolted with the fact that the inspectors failed to hold an investigatory experiment with participation of representatives of the suffered party.

At the same time, advocate Pliev is not going to appeal against the results of investigation and the forthcoming court ruling on the case at Russian judicial instances, since, in his opinion, the court will decide as ordered by the authorities; in this context, the advocate will try to have Evloev's case considered at the European Court for Human Rights.
