Russian RTVi Channels resumed in Georgia
The Russian-language RTVi television channel, which was stopped on August 19 after broadcasting the interview of Sergey Lavrov, Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs, to the "Echo Moskvy" Radio dealing with the conflict in South Ossetia and future Russia-Georgia relations, has resumed its broadcasting. In that interview, Mr Lavrov justified the invasion of troops into Georgia.
The channel was restarted today at 3:00 p.m. after a letter sent by management of the RTVi to the Georgian Union of Cable Television.
Restart of the TV Channel was confirmed by Evgeniy Kiselyov, editor-in-chief of the RTVi, the "Gazeta.Ru" reports.
The RTVi is a New York-based independent Russian-language TV Channel, which is broadcasting by means of satellite facilities. The channel was re-broadcast over Georgia by local cable networking companies.
