Rostov Region: court to consider case on SMS-messages appealing to kill Russians

The prosecutor's office of the city of Volgodonsk (Rostov Region) has sent a criminal case to the City Court opened against Anton Sh., 20, accused of sending SMS-messages with appeals to kill Russians.

Indeed, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told at the prosecutor's office of Volgodonsk that "Anton Sh., born in 1988, was accused of committing a crime covered by part 1, Article 282, of the Russian Criminal Code."

In the course of inquiry, it was established that the defendant sent anonymously, in the period from June 25 to July 4, 2007, from his mobile phone over 400 SМS-messages to the persons he never knew before - 400 subscribers of cellular companies - residents of the South Federal District of the Russian Federation, inviting them to murder Russian nationals.

According to the conclusion of linguistic examination, the text of the SМS-messages was kindling interethnic enmity and hatred, since it contains an indication to nationality and appeal to murder Russian nationals; it can provoke extremist actions on the part of non-Russians.

The defendant has pled guilty of indicted crimes and repented.

The minimum punishment under the said Article is a fine at a rate of 500-800 floor salaries.
