"Kinotaurus" Russian Film Festival over in Sochi

Today, the Sochi Winter Theatre has held the official closing ceremony of the 19th "Kinotaurus" Russian Open Film Festival. The prize for the best feature film was given to the "Shultes" film by director-debutant Bakur Bakuradze. The monetary worth of the prize is 625,000 roubles.

The best direction prize was granted to director Alexander Proshkin for his movie named "Live and Remember". The best debut prize was awarded to director Igor Voloshin for his film "Nirvana". Ksenia Rappoport has won the best woman's role in the film "St. George's Day" by director Kirill Serebrennikov. The best man's role prize went to English actor Jetro Skinner for the leading part in the "Plus One" film by Oksana Bychkova.

A new prize that was awarded for the first time this year at the "Kinotaurus" - for the best camerawork - was won by cameraman Ilya Dyomin for his work in the film "New Land". Most of the prizes of the "Kinotaurus" were awarded to the "Wild Field" by Mikhail Kalatozishvili. The Grigory Gorin Prize for the best script was granted posthumously to Peter Lutsik and Alexei Samoryadov, who had wrote the script for Mikhail Kalatozishvili's movie.

Alexei Aigi has received the Mikael Tariverdiev Prize for the best music to the "Wild Field". This film was also awarded a special diploma of the Film Festival "For Successful Commercial Project", the "Interfax" reports.

According to the RIA "Novosti", the Festival brought together 3,500 participants, and the "Akado" web portal reports that the event was attended by representatives of all the major Russian distributing and film-producing companies.

  • Two natives of Northern Caucasus injured in shootout near “Wildberries” office in Moscow

  • In Volgograd, court recognizes absence of HIV therapy in prison hospital

    The Central District Court of Volgograd awarded prisoner Ruslan Mitrofan compensation in the amount of 1000 roubles, recognizing that the administration of a prison hospital in Volgograd violated the prisoner’s right to receive medical care by not providing him with an HIV medicine.
