International Film Festival held in the capital of Chechnya

Today, the city of Grozny, the capital of the Chechen Republic, has launched the First International Film Festival named "Noah's Ark". The contest comprises 44 movies from 21 countries of the world.

"The contest will start with Nikita Mikhalkov's film entitled '12'," a worker of the Ministry of Culture of Chechnya told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. "Movies from Belarus, Uzbekistan, Sweden, Bangladesh, Algeria, France, Vietnam, Egypt, Brazil, Croatia, etc. will also be presented, 44 works in total- only 44 pictures, of them 12 are feature-length ones, 13 - short-length films and 18 documentaries. Two film created by Chechen directors are also in the contest programme."

The contest jury will define winners in six nominations: the best full-length fiction film, the best documentary, the best short-length film, the best director's and cameraman's work, the best script of a fiction film and the Best man's and woman's roles.

According to some sources, the overall expenses on holding the first international film festival in Grozny (it is planned to make it annual) have made about 30 million roubles. The Ministry of Culture has also informed that the entrance of the audience to the film festival will be free.

  • Two natives of Northern Caucasus injured in shootout near “Wildberries” office in Moscow

  • In Volgograd, court recognizes absence of HIV therapy in prison hospital
