Yesterday, on May 21, Nalchik, the capital of Kabardino-Balkaria, and other cities of the Republic hosted a number of events dedicated to the 144th anniversary of the end of the Caucasian War.

The events commenced at 11:30 a.m. near the memorial "Tree of Life" with the sounds of Circassian horn embodying the great grief of the Adygs. The monument was surrounded by residents of Nalchik and numerous guests, foreign ones inclusive.
Guided by Anas Pshikhachov, Chairman of the Spiritual Department of Moslems of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR), the participants made a collective commemoration prayer. Then, flowers and wreaths were laid down to the monument "Tree of Life". The ceremony was attended by the top leaders of the Republic and representatives of the Districts, including Cossack ones - Maiskiy and Prokhladnenskiy, and Balkar ones - Checrekskiy and Elboruskiy.

In the midday sharp, the participants held a minute of silence that was held at the same time by all the Adyg Diasporas all over the world.

After the ceremony, while answering journalists' questions, President of the KBR Arsen Kanokov noted that lessons should be learnt from the history. He also emphasized the importance of consolidating the society, instead of opposing people against each other.
