Azerbaijan: verdict to editor-in-chief of opposition newspaper upheld

Today, the Baku Appeal Court has upheld the verdict of the first instance court - 4 years of imprisonment - to Ganimat Zakhidov, editor-in-chief of the "Azadlyg" newspaper.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed by the editor-in-chief's advocates that today's decision of the Appeal Court is another evidence that Ganimat Zakhidov's case was customized and politically motivated.

We remind you that on March 7 the court sentenced Ganimat Zakhidov, editor-in-chief of the "Azadlyg" oppositional newspaper, to 4 years of deprivation of freedom finding him guilty of hooliganism and inflicting bodily injuries.
