In Stavropol Territory Kislovodsk administration again bans a protest meeting

The administration of the city of Kislovodsk (Stavropol Territory) has again refused to "coordinate" the notification about holding a meeting of protest organized by the city branch of the All-Russia Public Organization "Russian Pensioners" and planned for September 29.

Gennady Popkov, leader of the city branch of the organization and the head of the city's "Protest Committee," has told today to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent: "History repeats itself. The authorities are afraid of Kislovodsk pensioners."

The "Caucasian Knot" has already reported that the participants of the meeting (supposedly, about 300 person) will rally at the building of the former resort library at the Oktiabr Baths to express their mistrust to the administration of the city-resort and the "Spravedlivaya Rossiya" (Fair Russia) Party and to demand resignation of city's Mayor Vitaly Biryukov.

According to Mr Popkov, the aim of the action is to attract public attention to the problems and needs of Kislovodsk residents.

This is not the first protest action in Kislovodsk with this sort of demands. As a rule, the city authorities refuse to sanction protest actions.
