At the conference in Grozny, they state mass violations of human rights in Chechnya

At the international conference, now held in Grozny, Nurdi Nukhazhiev, Ombudsman for human rights in the Republic, has presented his report enumerating multiple facts of violation of human rights and freedoms in Chechnya in the course of armed actions.

One of the participants of the conference has reported about it by phone. In his opinion, the report of the Chechen Ombudsman was rather open and tough.

"He spoke about murders, extrajudicial execution, kidnappings and illegal detentions, about continued tortures and torments of the detainees. In particular, he mentioned the sadly known "ORB-2" (Operative and Searching Bureau)," the source of the correspondent of the "Caucasian Knot" has added. The Ombudsman has also reported that according to the official data, a total of 2700 persons are registered in Chechnya as missing. However, in the opinion of certain human rights defenders, the number of kidnapped persons can be much higher."
