Commander of battalion "Vostok" (East) deployed in Chechnya is accused of criminal self-will

Hero of Russia Sulim Yamadaev, commander of the "Vostok" special battalion deployed in Chechnya, has become a suspect of self-will and inflicting medium-gravity bodily injuries. Along with him, the figures of the criminal case investigated by the Prosecution Office of the Leningrad Military Command ("LenVo") are the "Vostok" chief of staff and one of the officers. They all took part in the scandalously known last year's raid on St. Petersburg meat-processing factory "Samson."

It has become known to "Kommersant" from the sources at the General Military Prosecution Office that Sulim Yamadaev and his colleagues chief of staff Magomed Taisumov and "spetsnaz" officer Rizvan Ustarkhanov are suspected of arrogation and inflicting medium-gravity bodily injuries to Mr. Khamzat Arsamakov, director of the "Samson." Besides, officers Taisumov and Ustarkhanov are suspected of robbery and theft of documents.

We remind you that battalion "Vostok" of the Head Reconnaissance Department of the Headquarters of the Russian Armed Forces became notoriously "famous" for a cruel clean-up ("zachistka") of the Chechen village of Borozdinovskaya.
