Trial on suit lodged by parents of the soldier killed in North Caucasus is appointed on February 15

On February 15, the Lefortovskiy District Court of Moscow will start a process on the suit initiated by the Human Rights Foundation "Mothers' Right" on behalf of the parents of Alexander Makmatov, a regular soldier who perished in 1996 in the border of North Ossetia and Ingushetia. Anna Kashirtseva, press secretary of the Foundation, has told about it to the correspondent of the "Caucasian Knot." The "Mothers' Right" demands from the military unit No. 3754 of the Ministry of Interior of the Russian Federation to compensate the moral damage caused to the victim's parents by the death of their son.

On June 18, 1996, the field sentry, where the young man was on service, was attacked by unidentified armed persons. A collision started in the course of which private Alexander Makmatov and his seven comrades-in-arms were killed.

"Pay attention to the son's letters, where he writes about drunkenness and disorders in the military unit, that lieutenant Bodrovnikov had settled to sell a hand-held machinegun to local residents, and the outpost on duty officer noticed it. The lieutenant had to shoot four locals dead to conceal the deal," Anna Kashirtseva quotes the parents' letter to the "Mothers' Right" Foundation.

According to the Makmatovs, the executed persons were Ingushes. "On the next day, the outpost was burned down. Subsequently, an ambush was arranged against the field sentry, and the soldiers were shot dead from three "Mukha" grenade launchers," the parents of the perished guy write.
