The USA help Armenia to fight trafficking

Within the framework of the Programme "Fighting Trafficking in Armenia," 25 victims of trafficking have been rendered medical, psychological and legal aid. This fact was to journalists by Enok Shatvoryan, Chairman of the "Hope and Help" public organization, participating in realization of the Programme.

In his words, 21 persons of the group are citizens of Armenia, and four - of Ukraine. Eleven of them became trafficking victims in Turkey, eight - in the United Arab Emirates, four - in Armenia and two - in Russia. 23 out of 25 trafficking victims were subjected to sexual exploitation, and two - to labour one.

We note here that the Programme "Fighting Trafficking in Armenia" was carried out with financial support of the Department for Fighting Drugs Circulation and legal cooperation of the US Embassy to Armenia from September 2005 and was completed at the very end of last year.

  • Chechen advocate lIdalov demands to punish judge for unjust verdict

    Timur Idalov, an advocate from Chechnya, has been released from forced labour, since the order to enforce his sentence was revoked. The statute of limitations for the case has already expired. Idalov asked the Supreme Court (SC) to hold the judge who had sentenced him accountable.
