More than 2 000 people dismissed in Azerbaijan due to crisis

The world economic crisis has affected the labor market in Azerbaijan and resulted in the dismissal of more than 2 thousand people. This has been announced by Fizuli Alekperov, Azeri minister of labor and social protection.

"We conduct monitoring of enterprises. We have visited 3,486 enterprises, the number of terminated contracts only constitutes 0.86%, i.e. about 2000 employees. Most employees are given a mandatory and unpaid leave", cites ANS-PRESS the statement by Alekperov.

According to the minister, the state duty for employing labor migrants is going to the raised several times over. Currently, it is 40 manats per year, now it is planned to be made 1000 manats (1240 dollars).

According to the data of the Main Employment Department under the Azeri Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, 43,503 persons applied for employment in 2008 to the employment agencies, and 31,144 persons were provided with appropriate work.
