Volgograd Region launches action in defence of cowslips
The Committee for Natural Resources and Nature Preservations of the Volgograd Regional Administration has initiated its fifth annual action in defence of rare early-flowering herbs (cowslips or primroses) growing in the region.
"Till May 24, we'll hold raids over the region to stop illegal gathering, transportation and sale of early-flowering herbs entered into the 'Red Books' of Russia and Volgograd region," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed in the press service of the Volgograd Regional Administration.
The action will keep hold to late May in the natural parks of the Volgograd Region, where the "Red Book" plants grow. Schools will hold contests of leaflets "Defend Cowslips", hand-made items, photos, etc. The employees of the Committee will hold schools competing for best monitoring of rare plants and endangered animals.
