Military Commandant's Office of Chechnya: contract soldier killed his colleagues for nationalist enmity
The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed by a source in the Military Commandant's Office of Chechnya that one of the reasons of incident, during which on April 12 a soldier of the Federal Forces deployed in Chechnya shot dead three of his comrades could be nationality-based aversions among militaries.
"Inspectors of the Military Prosecutor's Office are finding out all the circumstances of yesterday's incident in the Shatoy District of Chechnya, when a serviceman from the 42nd Guard Motorized Rifle Division of the Russian Ministry of Defence executed his three comrades-in-arms, including an officer, and then tried to commit suicide. There are two basic versions of the incident: nationality-based aversions among soldiers, and an ordinary "everyday" quarrel, which ended in shooting," said the source.
"A preliminary picture of the incident is as follows: at about 7 p.m. contract sergeant Daniil Kharkovskiy, who was on sentry duty near Borzoy village, Shatoy District, was approached by an officer, platoon commander Kolibaba, and two sergeants - Zakaryaev and Yusupov. The sergeants were drunk. A quarrel burst out between them and Kharkovskiy, and the sergeant on sentry opened sub-machine gun fire on the abusers," he said.
