Authorities of Georgia allow advertisement of strong drinks
The parliament of Georgia has approved the bill on amendments to the Law "On Advertisement Business", according to which advertising of strong alcohol drinks in any kind is allowed in the country until January 1, 2011.
From the economic viewpoint, the ban on advertising alcohol products in Georgia that was in force in the country brought losses to entrepreneurs, television and local self-governments. This was reported by the parliamentary committee on branch economy, which initiated the amendments.
The "Interfax" reports that now advertising strong beverages is allowed on television, but only after 11 p.m. The ban on street ads is also lifted. However, they are forbidden within 100 metres from culture and sports establishments.
The initiators of the bill hope that the changes will promote expansion of the very restricted market of Georgia-made alcoholic products and bring additional incomes to manufacturers, TV Channels and advertising companies, as the "Business Georgia" reports.
