DFSB for Dagestan reports detention of militiamen-bribe-takers

Employees of the Dagestan Department of the FSB (DFSB) have conducted an operation aimed to detain those militiamen who extorted bribes from residents of Makhachkala under a threat of criminal prosecution.

According to the information received by the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent from the PR group of the DFSB, on March 12 FSB agents detained militia sergeant Ramazan Magomedov at the moment when he received a 30,000-rouble bribe.

The detention operation started after a Makhachkala resident complained that a MIA employee was extorting a bribe from him, otherwise threatening to initiate a criminal case against him for drug dealing.

On March 13, employees of the Dagestan DFSB detained another militia suspected of extorting a bribe of 100,000 roubles. It was senior militia lieutenant Gadzhimurad Aseldarov, operative worker of the centre for combating extremism of the Dagestan's MIA.
