Senior schoolchildren of Novocherkassk develop the formula of school self-management

On March 13, the Centre of Legal Education named "Rights Above All" and located in the city of Novocherkassk, Rostov Region, held a debate session under the motto "Hope on adults, and yourself…?" where the participants, senior schoolchildren of the city, discussed the problems of school self-management.

The debates on the issues of school self-management were prepared by the members of the organizations named "Novocherkassk Memorial" and "Scarlet Sail". The participants of the debates met more than once in the Centre to discuss the problems of civil society and active civic stand.

One week prior to the meeting, schoolchildren could participate in the business game "Elections", where they got acquainted with the rules of conducting pre-election campaigns.

Telling about how self-management is executed in their schools, the participants of the debates have noted the inaccessibility of school media. They are available mainly to teachers, while the class has one copy per month in the best case.

A way out of the situation can be publication of own daily wall newspapers, as the debate participants have noted. School radio can also somehow settle the problem.

The debates in the club took place under support of the Institute of the Open Society and Charitable Fund named "Foothold".
