Youth organization "Together" accuses Armenian high school teachers of bribe-taking

Today, photos of 30 Armenian higher schools teachers inscribed "Bribe-takers" stuck in central streets of Yerevan, underground passes and on walls of higher educational establishments. The youth movement "Miasin" (Together) claims to have organized the action.

The higher school administrations ordered to clean the walls from the posters. Members of the "Together" movement refused to give any comments. It was just stated that the aim of the action is to fight against corruption in higher schools.

Armen X., a student of the Institute of National Economy, said to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that the aim of the "Miasin" movement was to show the inaction of student's boards, the fact that they are under the heel of higher school administrations and fail to express the moods of students.

Another student of the same institute complained that teachers of his establishment take bribes.

Students of the Yerevan State University voiced their complete support of the action and expressed hope that now teachers will stop taking bribes.

Arthur Bagdasaryan, head of the PR Department of the Ministry of Education and Sciences, has emphasized that the Ministry had always fought against corruption and cooperated in this fight with different organizations. "Should the organizers of the action have approached us with particular facts, the officials of the Ministry could have taken steps to involve law enforcement bodies," said Mr Bagdasaryan.

In the opinion of Karen Grigoryan, head of the information division of the Yerevan State University, such methods of struggle are inefficient. "Our attitude is negative, this is public slander on people," Mr Grigoryan has concluded.
