Georgian visas to be issued in Moscow starting March 6

Starting from today, March 5, issuance of Georgian visas to Russians has officially resumed through the Swiss diplomatic missions. However, the actual work with documents will begin on March 6 - today diplomats were engaged in solemn opening ceremony of the section of Georgia's interests at the embassy of Switzerland to Russia.

Today in Moscow, a Swiss flag was hoisted over the building of former Georgian embassy in Moscow, where the section of Georgia's interests thus has been launched at the embassy of Switzerland to Russia. It means that Moscow-Tbilisi visa relations have officially restarted.

"Actually, issuance of visas by the Georgian party never stopped; they were just issued on the border," Ivan Dolgiy, an employee of the division for Georgia of the RF's Consular Service at the MFA (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) said to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. "However, now this work will restart officially under the embassy's roof."

The section of Georgia's interests at the embassy of Switzerland to Russia will be headed by Givi Shugarov, former ambassador. The section of Russia's interests in Tbilisi, also opened today, will be headed by his Russian counterpart Andrei Shmaga.
