Azerbaijan doubles its military contingent in Afghanistan
On February 27, additional staff of 45 Azerbaijani military peacemakers left for Afghanistan. The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed about it by Eldar Sabiroglu, head of the press service of the Ministry of Defence of Azerbaijan.
"Sending Azerbaijani militaries to Afghanistan for performing their duties within the international antiterrorist operation is undertaken in accordance with the decision of the National Assembly of Azerbaijan," said Eldar Sabiroglu.
He did not detail the mission assigned to the Azerbaijani contingent, having noticed that the militaries from Azerbaijan will take service within the Turkish battalion.
With the arrival of the additional forces, the total number of Azerbaijani soldiers in Afghanistan will make 90.
