Abkhazia accuses Georgia of trying to kidnap resident of Gali District

Today, a Georgian diversive group of four persons tried to kidnap Irakliy Bigvava, a resident of Otobaya village, Gali District of Abkhazia. This was stated by Laurens Kogoniya, head of the Gali District Interior Department (ROVD).

We remind you that Georgia and Abkhazia started their 2009 with mutual accusations of provocations. Messages arrived about approximately 20 skirmishes on the border, in which allegedly people were lost. It was also reported about kidnappings and murders of residents in the frontier areas and of power agents. Every time the accused party refuted either the incident or its guilt.

According to Mr Kogoniya, today's incident happened at 5:20 Moscow time. Having received the signal about kidnapping, employees of the Gali ROVD rushed to chase the offenders and overtook them close at the frontier along the Ingur River. "When they saw my militiamen, the criminals wounded Bigvava in his leg, left him and crossed the frontier," said Kogoniya.

The wounded Irakliy Bigvava was brought to the Gali District Hospital. The Gali District Prosecutor's Office has opened a criminal case, now the investigation is in progress.

So far, there is no reaction of the Georgian party on this message.
