Suspected killer of Mayor of the capital of North Ossetia was UBOP worker

The spokesman of the Investigatory Committee at the Prosecutor's Office for North Ossetia has reported that one of the suspects of murdering Mayor of Vladikavkaz Vitaly Karaev was, at the moment of murder, an employee of the Department for Fighting Organized Crime (the so-called "UBOP").

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports that when asked whether the second suspect was a criminal authority, the source answered in the negative. The spokesman of the Committee refused to give more details, having stated the inquiry is held by the Prosecutor's Office of the SFD (South Federal District).

At present, the suspects are kept in Vladikavkaz. Their involvement in other resonant crimes, including the murder of ex-Mayor of Vladikavkaz Kazbek Pagiev, who was shot dead near his house on December 31, 2008, is now examined.

The basic version assumes that the murder of the Mayor of Vladikavkaz is linked with his service activities.
