Killers of Vladikavkaz mayor Karaev detained

A source in law enforcement bodies of North Ossetia has reported that in Vladikavkaz committers of the murder of city mayor Vitaly Karaev, who was shot dead by a sniper in November 2008, were detained.

"In the last month, a big group of inspectors worked in the republic; they managed to establish and trace the criminals," a source of the ITAR-TASS has added.

In the opinion of the source, "since Vitaly Karaev's murder is linked with the murder of ex-mayor of Vladikavkaz Kazbek Pagiev, we can speak about solving both crimes." According to his version, "one of the detainees is making confessionary statements."

The "Interfax" reports with reference to a well-informed circle in Russian law enforcement bodies that in total three persons were arrested, presumably residents of North Ossetia who could be executors of the murder. According to the source, firearms were confiscated from them.
