Armenian opposition complains of inmate beaten in prison

Arman Musinyan, press secretary of the oppositional Armenian National Congress (ANC), has declared today that on December 23 ten persons in masks and camouflage came into the cell of inmate Vardges Gaspari, attacked him and started beating him.

When asked why the fact of beating has become known only now, Mr Musinyan told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that until now Mr Gaspari had no opportunity to transfer the information about the incident to the opposition, since he was completely isolated in prison. According to the ANC's press secretary, despite Vardges Gaspari's appeal to the head of the prison to initiate a criminal case on the fact of violence applied to him, his appeal remained unanswered.

Earlier it became known about beating on December 23 of three inmates: Grigor Voskerchyan, Gevork Manukyan and Armen Khurshudyan. According to imprisoned opposition activists, they were beaten by unknown persons in masks and camouflage who rushed into their cells.
