Armenia: trial on "Case of Seven" will be open

The trial that starts on December 19 on the criminal case of participants of mass disorders on March 1-2 in Yerevan, also known as the "Case of Seven", will be open, said Alina Engoyan, press secretary of the Cassation Court of Armenia.

"The first court session is appointed on December 19 at midday local time (11:00 a.m. Moscow time). The court of general jurisdiction of the Yerevan-based community Shengavit will consider the case in the open judicial session. It assumes that any person older than 16, including journalists, can be present in the courtroom," the RIA "Novosti" quotes Ms Engoyan as saying.

    Timur Idalov, an advocate from Chechnya, has been released from forced labour, since the order to enforce his sentence was revoked. The statute of limitations for the case has already expired. Idalov asked the Supreme Court (SC) to hold the judge who had sentenced him accountable.
